Buckled Flats

This project was my first experience creating a fully finished piece in a shoe construction studio. Through the process, I learned how a shoe comes together—from understanding each component and the behavior of leather to practicing basic pattern-making and construction techniques. It was a challenging introduction, but one that gave me a clearer sense of craftsmanship and the patience required to build something from the ground up.



PROCESS DEVELOPMENT



As a technical studio project, this work gave me a solid introduction to the fundamentals of footwear construction. Drafting patterns, testing materials, and assembling each component from the inside out helped me understand how structure, proportion, and craftsmanship work together in shoe design. Completing this pair of buckle flats allowed me to apply these skills in practice and build a clearer foundation for future work in accessory and product construction.
